Featured Image by URL :

Featured Image by URL allows to use an external URL Images as Featured Image for your post, page & custom post types like WooCommerce Product. Includes support for Product Gallery (WooCommerce). So, using this plugin you can easily set featured image from url.

Installation

This plugin can be installed directly from your site.

  1. Log in and navigate to Plugins & Add New.
  2. Type “Featured Image by URL” into the Search input and click the “Search” button.
  3. Locate the “Featured Image by URL” in the list of search results and click “Install Now”.
  4. Click the “Activate Plugin” link at the bottom of the install screen.

It can also be installed manually.

  1. Download the “Featured Image by URL” plugin from WordPress.org.
  2. Unzip the package and move to your plugins directory.
  3. Log into WordPress and navigate to the “Plugins” screen.
  4. Locate “Featured Image by URL” in the list and click the “Activate” link.

FAQ

Is this plugin works for all themes?

Maybe Not. Plugin is works fine with most of themes but as you know Featured image is depends on themes So, This plugin may not work for some highly customized themes which are using non-extensible functions like wp_get_attachment_url.

Worked out of the box in 2022

This hasn't been updated in 2 yrs, but it worked out-of-the-box in 2022! It's MUCH lighter than the other plugin “Featured Image from URL (FIFU)”, and doesn't install piles of stuff with tons of settings. P.S. they're both great plugins, but this one is way lighter.

**Describe the bug** Keep loading when product update with more than 1 images in gallery, and finally 500 error **To Reproduce** Steps to reproduce the behavior: 1. Go to product edit page and update it with more than 1 images in gallery 2. Click update, then keep loading, finally 500 error. **Expected behavior** Should be updated shortly. **Screenshots** This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase 'Connection Timeout'. **Enviroment (please complete the following information):** - Plugin Version 1.1.7 - WordPress Version [e.g. 5.7.2 - WooCommerce Version 5.3.0
